EQ

1. "I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ."

2. a) This question does follow the rule of three because it does require research and it isn't a yes or no question. It does give a chance to argue because there can be many answers. The wording also makes sense and is understandable.
    b) This question does not follow the rule of three because it needs to specify what the conviction is, and without knowing you can't do much research on it.
    c) This question does follow the rule of three because it does require research and is not a yes or no answer. There are many answers so it can be arguable. The wording is good so it makes complete sense.
    d)  This question does not follow the rule of three because it doesn't specify what kind of chronic pain or where it is. This question does make sense but it needs to be more specific.

3. What is the best way for municipalities to prevent storm water pollution?

October Extra Post

On the 18 of October I went to an event with my mentor and talked and educated the public about storm water and told them what to do to help out. To do this I played a game of Jeopardy with them, They got to choose three questions and if they got at least two right then they won a prize. We designed the game to get people thinking about storm water and hopefully they learned something and will care.

Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection

1. I am really proud of how my presentation played out, although I had a little technical trouble I thought I did really well.

2. A.) I would give myself a P
B.) I think I deserve that because I met all of the requirement that were on the contract and did not miss anything.

3. Being prepared really worked out for me, I knew what to say and what to do and it all flowed really well.

4. I would have done a regular slide show presentation instead of a prezi because the computer was not cooperating with prezi.

Blog 8- Research and Working EQ

1. My working EQ is, What is the best way to implement stormwater regulations as it relates to the clean water act?

  • Involve multiple entity's such as water purveyors, agricultural farmers, dairy farmers, fish and wildlife organizations, vector control, fish and game agencies, national resource defense council, and green peace.
2. I have used many great sources but the most helpful source I have used is by actually going with my mentor to his work and watching what he does and helping him with it.

3. My mentor is Joseph Rosales and he is a great help because he brings me really great resources from his work that gives a lot of information about stormwater and what goes on all around the world about it and how everything is organized and taken care of.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1. The first thing I am planning to do for my 30 hours is an activity with a class at school, it will most likely be Mrs. Thinnes's class because she already said I can use her house, but it is still possible that I will have to change that. Then after I do the activity I will be doing other various things with my mentor. For example on October 18 at the Chino Basin Water Conservation District there is going to be a Water Conservation fair and I am going to be helping at my booth to educate the public about conserving water and I will be doing an activity with the public to educate them.

2. I will be taking lots pictures and posting them, taking pictures is the easiest way to show what I am doing.

3. I would just probably continue doing what I am doing now to look more in depth on my topic which is reading stormwater magazines and articles and helping out my mentor at his work and go to more of his meetings.

How long did it take you to fully get the hang of everything?

Blog 5- Mentorship Reflection

1. I have always found some interest in what my dad does for his work and I am always helping out and volunteering, so I just decided to do my project on what he does for his job. He is NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) coordinator of Montclair. So I just asked him to be my mentor and he said yes, and he is still currently my mentor.

2. All the articles I read are really important but the one i found most informational and useful was Wikipedia. I know Wikipedia isn't the greatest source to get information from but I find it very useful because it has a little bit of everything that has to do with my topic so if I forget something then I can go to Wikipedia and it will tell me what I need to know.

Progress on Senior Project

So far what I have been doing is helping my mentor with a small event that happened at his work and I explained what stormwater is and how it all works. I will be attending one of his meetings soon and I have been reading a book that he brought from his book called "Project Wet."

Summer Mentorship Component

1. Mentorship log

2. Name- Old Town Baking Co.
    Number-(909)945-0400

3. What type of school did you do for this position?
Is this job a high paying job?

4. The most important thing that I have learned from this experience is that it is not easy to work in bakery         because it is a lot of physical tiring work.

5. My senior topic is going to be cake decorating because while I was working at that bakery I realized that       although it is a tiring job it is something I really enjoy doing.

Monday, June 2, 2014

I saw many things like drumsticks and worksheets, but the main thing that I saw was powerpoints.

Some questions that I had but weren't answered was, what exact type of research do u have to do for the project? and, how long did it take you to get your mentor-ship?

The most important part of the presentation was probably the speaking part because you have to talk about your essential questions which is a big part of the component.

The topic I am considering is pastry decorating because I love to bake and decorate. I really enjoy doing it and I seem to be pretty good at it.

I am currently trying to find a mentor that works in a bakery but it has been difficult because they either just won't take me in or for liability reasons.
